Many men feel alone in this battle.

During my time spent at The Catholic University of America, I met some great, dynamic men who are committed to doing to the Lord's work.  Matt at Catholic Fried Rice is one of them.  Recently on his blog, he's been tackling the issue of pornography.

"The more I researched," Matt explains, "went to workshops across the country and heard, saw, and spoke to hundreds of hungry guys who wanted to break their habit, I realized a common denominator:

Many, many men feel alone in this battle.

I realized that one of the biggest motivators men need is to know that there are other men out there who care about being stronger, who don’t accept that habitual pornography watching is part of what makes us men, and know that their lives are better without it.

I decided that men need to know that there are other guys out there fighting, too. I did everything I knew this week, including a call to men, to get as many guys as possible to give me their thoughts on porn."

This week, 48 men (including a well-known Catholic man) shared with him a time they were tempted to view porn, how they resisted, and what they did with that time instead.  Well worth the read.

Thank you, Matt, for your invitation to us to pray, educate, and become the best-versions-of-ourselves*!

*Dear Matthew Kelly, please don't sue me.

  1. Trista! I just saw this. I'm really touched that you're shouting out me and my blog and the guys on here. That means a lot. I love what you write on here, too. You're so relatable to women!

  2. Such a hard subject, because our good men feel shame about this... Making it so much harder to share. But I know there is hope, and as women we need to encourage our brothers to forgive themselves when they fall ( and we need compassion and mercy) and to grow stronger in resisting temptation. I just want to say to all the men struggling, even a little, that you can overcome the trials...keep striving in your desire to see women as the image of God... Find support and ways to walk away, and rely on God's love for you.

  4. Oh, this is so so important! So glad that you (and Matt) are posting about it. Off to read what Matt and the others have to say!

(On another note...here I thought you'd gone away from blogging, when somehow it was me who deleted you from my list...I did go on a purge a few months ago, must have gotten into too much of a delete-routine and deleted you by mistake - ugh! SO glad I found you again via #cathsorority!)

  5. This is awesome; thanks for the link! A friend of mine recently started a nonprofit to help heal women recovering from eating disorders with both psychological help and a Catholic perspective. Her blog, I Fight Him With Love, often touches on the topic of pornography, as well. http://ifighthimwithlove.wordpress.com

    Peace!
